2Funky Music Cafe

23a new park st, Leicester, LE3 5NH

2Funky Music Cafe is the 350 capacity main live room of the 2Funky Complex on New Park Street, in Leicester's West End just off Narborough Road and a short walk from the De Montfort University campus. The complex specialises in music of Black origin and has hosted Grandmaster Flash, KRS-One, GZA, Akala and Lady Leshurr, while De Montfort's own guide calls the cafe the home of Leicester's sound system culture, with nights such as Dub Cub. Its bass calendar follows on from that: Basswreck has booked the Birmingham bassline and grime MC Trilla Trilloski, and Bass Jungle has run takeovers here. Inside there is a raised seating area overlooking the stage, there are outdoor areas with their own bar, and the licence runs to 4am for club events. The 2Funky Lounge and Street Kitchen sit within the same complex.

2Funky Music Cafe has 2 upcoming drum & bass event(s) on DNBRAVE.
