02 Academy In Bristol
Flat 511, Bristol, BS1 5NA
The Frogmore Street building is a survivor of Mecca's New Entertainments Centre of 1966, the complex that housed the Locarno ballroom and an ABC cinema. After a spell as the Rock nightclub it opened in 2001 as the third Academy venue in the UK, and it has carried the O2 name since 2009. Today the main hall holds about 1,600 on a floor that is wide rather than deep, with a balcony and raised areas at the back, and a second room takes around 250. Gigs fill most of the calendar, yet the venue has strong ties to Bristol drum and bass, and a Full Cycle Sunday special reunites Roni Size, Krust, DJ Suv and Dynamite MC with guests DJ Craze and Kenny Dope. Regulars point to the balcony as the place to watch from when the floor gets packed. It is a short walk downhill from the Triangle and Park Street.
02 Academy In Bristol has 1 upcoming drum & bass event(s) on DNBRAVE.
