The Big Freshers Welcome Rave at Lightbox on Sunday 13 September is a three room welcome week party rather than a dedicated drum and bass night, and it pays to know that before buying: D&B has its own room, alongside a hip hop and R&B room and a house and commercial room, with no named DJs on any of them. The promoters claim fifteen sold out years and pad the night out with a giant ball pit, inflatables, an arcade zone, free popcorn and candy floss. Lightbox sits under the Vauxhall arches with LED walls wrapping its vaulted main room and a large garden; the party plays from 11pm to 4am, last entry 2am, tickets from £5, 18 and over. Vauxhall station is two minutes away, and reviewers of busy nights here describe a packed floor, a strict door and no re-entry. No tracksuits.
