Basstime is Network's showcase for the next wave of Sheffield bassline, the city's own 4x4 sound, and on Saturday 5 September the third edition puts D Dot Street at the top of the bill with DJ RB, Clezmo and DJ Ceven in support. The promoters pitch it as everything from deep underground rollers to the big anthems, all from local producers and DJs rather than touring names. Network occupies the old Plug building on Matilda Street, reopened with a full Martin Audio install that fixed the sound problems the previous club was known for, and its main room laser show gets steady praise. Entry is £8 and the music plays from 11pm until 5am. Reviewers describe a quick queue and a friendly door, cans sold two for under a tenner, and a ten minute walk back to Sheffield station.
