MC Det
Genres: Jungle, Drum & Bass
Det came through the rave era as one of the voices of Kool FM, the pirate station that broadcast hardcore, jungle and drum and bass from the rooftops of Hackney estates through the 1990s. In 1995 Sour Records released Out of Det, his first jungle MC album, and it sold not only at home but in America, Japan and Europe. His range has carried him outside the jungle circuit too: he has recorded with Red Snapper and Cut La Roc, toured with Red Snapper and the Asian Dub Foundation sound system, and appeared with Red Snapper on Later with Jools Holland. A later album, Knights of the MC on Times Two Records, brought in Skibadee, Dynamite MC, Ed Solo and the Ragga Twins. A long partnership with DJ Brockie, including their show on Kool, keeps him tied to classic jungle, and he remains a regular host at old skool and jungle history nights.
MC Det has 5 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
