Mandidextrous is Mandi Gordon, a Bristol based DJ and producer who spent two decades on the free party circuit before crossing into drum and bass. They started playing out in 2000, ran the Amen4Tekno label for around ten years as a home for 190 BPM jungletek and raggatek, and moved towards D&B in 2020 as a RAM Records mentee through the EQ50 scheme. The result was a sound they call speed bass: four to the floor kick drums under drum and bass at 170 to 180 BPM, borrowing from bassline, hardcore and techno. Releases have landed on ProgRAM, Born On Road and Bass Militia, with Techno On My Mind and Hold Your Rhythm, the closing track at Boomtown 2022, among the best known. In 2025 they launched Speedbass Recordings with the single Needed You. Expect a relentless, high tempo set that rarely drops below 170.
