DJ Sappo
Genres: Jungle, Jump-Up, Rollers, Drum & Bass
DJ Sappo is a south Manchester DJ and producer who has been part of the city's jungle scene since the early 1990s, when he was a fixture around the Spin Inn record shop. His 1996 tune Ding Dong Bass, voiced by MC Bassman, is remembered as a jump-up classic, and he was the first producer to put Bassman, Spyda and Trigga on record, the MCs later known as Shadow Demon Coalition. Since then his rolling, punchy productions have come out on labels including V Recordings, Intalex, Flex, Emotif and Formation, alongside a remix of Roni Size's Playtime. He also joined the BBC 1Xtra team, hosting what was billed as the first national four-hour jungle and drum and bass show, and still plays Manchester's old-school revival nights.
DJ Sappo has 1 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
