DJ Brockie
Genres: Jungle
Born Ian Michael Campbell, DJ Brockie has been a fixture in the drum and bass scene since 1988, making him one of the genre's true elder statesmen. Before jungle existed as a named movement, Brockie was already cutting his teeth on swing, soul, hip-hop, and ragga, before gravitating to hardcore and riding the wave into the explosive early days of jungle. In 1991 he co-founded Kool FM 94.5, the legendary pirate radio station that became the longest-standing drum and bass station in the world and a vital breeding ground for emerging talent. In 1997, Brockie teamed up with Ed Solo to launch Undiluted Recordings, a label that debuted the following year with the anthem "Represent." Undiluted became a home for quality jump-up and jungle-influenced drum and bass, championing fresh talent while cementing Brockie's own reputation as both a selector and tastemaker. His long-running partnership with MC Det became one of the most celebrated DJ-MC duos in the scene, known for electrifying sets that blended deep knowledge of the music with raw crowd energy. Brockie has performed all over the world, from the biggest UK raves to international festivals, and his connection to the roots of the culture -- through Kool FM, Undiluted, and decades behind the decks -- has earned him enduring respect. He represents an unbroken thread from the pirate radio days of the early 1990s through to the modern drum and bass movement, and remains one of the most beloved figures in the scene.
DJ Brockie has 1 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
