Ben Love, known as Benny L, is a London-born producer who has become one of the most in-demand names in modern drum and bass. A multi-instrumentalist from a young age -- playing drums, piano, trumpet, and violin -- he moved to Bristol in 2011 to study music production, where he first experienced the genre live at Ministry of Sound. But it was witnessing Dillinja perform at Cable nightclub that crystallised his path. Under the mentorship of Metalheadz stalwart Shimon, Benny L spent years honing a sound that would shake the foundations of the scene. His 2017 breakthrough came with "Low Blow," a track of such devastating bass weight that Goldie himself championed it and released it on Metalheadz. Follow-up releases on the legendary imprint, including "Vantablack," further cemented his reputation as a bass specialist of the highest order. His remix of John Holts "Police In Helicopter" made history as the first drum and bass track to reach number one on the Beatport chart across all genres. In 2022, he launched his own label TrES-2b Music, named after a distant exoplanet, giving him a launchpad for his own artistic vision. On the dancefloor, Benny L is a force of nature. His sets are built around punishing basslines, precision-engineered breaks, and an energy that channels the heavyweight tradition of Dillinja and the Metalheadz school while pushing into distinctly modern territory.
