4am Kru are Howie and Stu, a London duo who formed in late 2019 after years on the city's band circuit and found themselves playing old jungle records in a Tottenham studio. What they make and play is 1994 flavoured jungle and early 90s hardcore, filtered through R&B slow jams, 80s soundtracks and hardcore bands, and they present it as a live show rather than a DJ set. What Is Jungle? featuring Phoebe White, released in 2021, is the tune most people know, alongside Deepest Darkest Jungle and their remix of King with SHANTEH and Josh Kye, most of it self released through Bandcamp. Since lockdown lifted they have played Glastonbury, Boomtown, Reading and Leeds and Boardmasters, becoming a fixture of the new jungle wave.
